I participated in the Poster contest at The Mexican Museum of Design Mumedi. The contest was international, and the numbers of received posters was almost 1500 from 52 different countries. That's a big number, and I can't imagine the work that judges had, to select 170 posters for the contest and exhibition.
The contest subject is very interesting, and that was the reason why I participated in the first place. This was my first contest entry in the Mexican territory, and I was very excited about it. Mexican history is full of religious things, and people like to remember of theirs loveones.
When the contest is marked like freestyle, you can do everything, all you can imagine, of course, with the connection with the subject, but it can be photography, illustration, mix of all that etc. After a few days, I had the idea, but, I couldn't make it without help of my friends. We had one week to finish it. And we did it.
Most of the things was improvised, but hey, isn't that fun? We had person for makeup, technical support, behind the scene photographer, a kid asking for food etc... All was with low budget, so we made shooting in my room. Yes I cleaned up earlier...
Thanks to my friend Danae, few photos from behind the scene:
The idea, was to demonstrate few moments of our lives in kind of bad way, or what could happened if you do something, and of course in funny way. In other words, you died, happy!
I thought out a few stories, and we selected only three of them.
1. Sebastian 16, He won the competition of freedive (apnea), he was 43 minutes under the water...
2. Josue 24, Finally he had her number, but he didn't know that she was married...
3. Varso 24, Her boyfriend was the best in the world, she loved him very much, what a shame that he was a serial killer...
As you can see, I participated with three posters, but the subject was the same. After one month, we were invited to the exhibition at Mumedi Museum. We saw awesome posters from all over the world. Really, some of the posters were very good designed, and with a very good idea and message! We voted for a poster we liked at the exhibition, and that wasn't very easy to do.
Here you can see the winners of the poster contest:
First what I sad when I saw the results wasn't WOU, it was WTF?! I didn't expected nothing from this contest, for me participating was enough, but when I saw results, I didn't know how to react. I don't see any connection between the poster contest and the first place. Maybe poster have some message, hidden deeply, but very deeply. If you find out, please, let me know. The second one is very good, and the third isn't something special, but they are much better then the first one.
