Looking for cute icons for your desk?
I hope you like today's freebies edition from Smashing Magazine. They're always looking for creative and talented artist and designers, and this time they chose my colleague and friend Maja Benčić. She made 8 very nice icons and sad:
I prefer clean and simple designs with lively colors and original elements such as icons. Since I love creating characters and try to include them often in my designs, I wanted to use them for a set of trendy and cute icons inspired with cartoons and picture books.
I think these icons could be used to make web-sites more lively and friendly no matter how serious they are supposed to be. At least that’s how I like my web-projects to be. I hope people will find a way for incorporating some or all of these icons into their designs.

Free vector world map resource
Did you ever tried to find a world map, but all maps were bad quality gifs or maps with some ugly text over it... Hope you find something for yourself. Here is a collection of vector maps. Free of use.
Note: Some of the maps (especially of Europe) have old data on it, like Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia etc. All this countries doesn't exists anymore (they were separated), so be careful when using it.
Skitch: Snap, Draw, Share!
Working on a mac is a incredible experience, especially, if you were Win user for many years as I was. At first you can't believe how smooth and great is working with Mac OSX.
One of the great things that I like, are applications. There are lots of apps that are free and they do awesome job. So, if you don't know for Skitch, you've got 5 seconds to install it, 4, 3, 2, 1.
